Cart won't stop beeping/buzzing

Cart Buzzing/Beeping (No Screen)

Cart Buzzing in Cart Barn or Non Geofenced Areas

Overview

If a cart is buzzing or beeping while parked in the cart barn or won't stop beeping/buzzing in an area that is not geofenced, this is typically caused by the cart not receiving the latest geofencing settings.

The cart may possibly still be operating on an outdated geofence or may not have fully downloaded the updated fencing configuration. This can result in unintended buzzing or beeping.

Why This Happens

Carts may have limited connectivity while inside the cart barn. As a result, they may fail to properly download updated geofencing settings from the dashboard.

If changes were recently made, for example after a CPO day, a cart that remains parked in the barn may not receive the updated configuration. When that cart is later taken directly onto the course, it may still be working from the previous geofence setup and trigger incorrect buzzing.

Or in some cases where the cart hasn't download the fence fully the incomplete download would cause the cart to beep in the cart barn or non-geofenced areas.

To resolve this issue:

  1. Take the affected cart out to an open area with good connectivity.

  2. Drive it around for 5 minutes to allow the device to reconnect.

  3. Give the cart a few minutes to download and apply the latest geofencing settings.

Once the cart has reconnected and updated successfully, the erroneous buzzing should stop.

Best Practice for Making Geofence Changes

To ensure carts receive the latest updates:

  • Stage carts in an open area with good signal before making changes or if the cart's that are about to be used, haven't been used since changes were made, staging them for a short while before play would help as well.

  • Allow sufficient time for carts to download and apply the updated settings if changes were made on the day or the previous day whilst the majority were in the cart barn.

This process significantly reduces the risk of outdated geofencing behavior.

Geofence Tips

Please ensure that each geofence contains no more than 20 points.

The more points a geofence has, the longer it takes for a cart to download the fencing data. Excessive points also increase the likelihood of incomplete downloads, which can contribute to buzzing or inconsistent behavior.

Example of a poorly drawn geofence:
A complex shape with excessive points and unnecessary detail.

Example of a well drawn, efficient geofence:
A simplified shape using the minimum number of points required to accurately define the area.
