How to use 2Way Messaging

Sending2Way Messages (for operators)

Training & Support

You can find the Two-Way Messaging Training Video in this course:
Tagmarshal Training Portal – Two-Way Messaging

2Way Messaging allows course operators and marshals to send and receive real-time messages directly to players on the course using our two-way devices (carts and walker units).

This feature supports proactive communication to help manage pace of play, safety, weather conditions, and general on-course notifications, while maintaining a professional golfing experience.

Purpose

Two-Way Messaging helps keep play organized and players informed. You can use it to send:

  • Pace of play messages
(e.g. “Please pick up the pace of play.”)

  • Weather alerts
(e.g. lightning or severe weather warnings)

  • Safety notifications
    (e.g. medical or on-course emergencies)

  • General notifications or reminders
(e.g. clubhouse updates or F&B promotions)

  • Lost item inquiries
(e.g. “Did you lose a club on the previous hole?”)

  • Broadcast messages to multiple carts or walkers

  • Individual messages to a specific group

Golfers can also respond, allowing for two-way communication between staff and players.

How to Access Two-Way Messaging

There are two ways to send two-way messages:

Option 1: From the Tag Sidebar (Map View)

  1. Locate a tag/device on the course map

    • Devices may be active or inactive

  2. Click on the tag to open the Tag Sidebar

  3. Scroll to the Two-Way Messaging section

This view allows you to quickly message a specific group directly from the course map.

Option 2: From the Send Two-Way Message Module

  1. Click the Tagmarshal icon in the top-left corner

  2. Scroll to the Marshal section

  3. Select Send Two-Way Message

This opens the Two-Way Messaging Dashboard, where you can manage individual and broadcast messages.

Understanding the Two-Way Messaging Dashboard

The dashboard displays:

  • A list of all two-way devices at your facility

  • Tag or cart numbers on the left-hand side

  • Device status:

    • Grey = inactive

    • Colored = active

  • Pace status relative to your goal time (on pace, slow, delayed)

  • Device details, including:

    • Class (Cart or Walker)

    • Device type (8-inch unit, 10-inch unit, handheld)

Selecting a tag displays the message history for that device on the right-hand side.

Sending an Individual Message to a player or cart

You can send individual messages from either the Tag Sidebar or the Send Two-Way Message module.

Step-by-Step

  1. Select the tag/device you want to message

  2. Click Compose Message (or use the message field at the bottom of the dashboard)

  3. Choose a message type icon:

    • Pace Alert – Red exclamation mark (pace of play)

    • Weather Alert – Yellow lightning bolt (adverse weather)

  4. Toggle the sound alert:

    • On for urgent or time-sensitive messages

    • Tick icon: Message delivered to the device

    • Green tick: Message has been read and acknowledged by the golfer

  • Any incoming replies from golfers appear in the same message history panel

Sending a Broadcast Message

Broadcast messaging allows you to send one message to multiple devices at the same time.

Step-by-Step

  1. Open the Send Two-Way Message module

  2. Select the Broadcast option

(e.g. “Severe weather in the area. Please return to the clubhouse.”)

  7. Click Send

The message will be delivered to all selected devices, including those:

  • On the course

  • In the staging area

  • At the practice facility

Receiving Incoming Messages

  • Golfers can respond directly from their two-way device
