Understanding the Pace Disruptors Module

Pace Disruptors is a module designed to move beyond simple pace tracking. While standard statuses (On Pace, Delayed, Delayer) show how a group is performing, the Pace Disruptor status shows their actual impact on the field.

This module addresses the most critical operational question for any course manager: "Is this group currently causing a disruption that requires immediate attention?"

Where to find the Pace Disruptors module: Located under Management > Pace Disruptors, administrators can tailor the module to their specific course needs:

1. What is a Pace Disruptor?

A group is classified as a Pace Disruptor when they become a "pace risk" to the field. Unlike standard alerts, this classification is designed to highlight the groups that are actively creating bottlenecks.

The Trigger Logic

To ensure staff focus only on the most critical groups, a group only becomes a Pace Disruptor when they breach BOTH of the following thresholds:

  1. Pace Threshold: Total minutes behind pace relative to the course's Goal Time.

  2. Position Threshold: Total minutes behind pace relative to the group ahead (the "gap").

Default Value: The system defaults to 10 minutes for both thresholds, though these can be customized.

2. Visual Indicators: What Staff See

When a group is flagged as a Disruptor, the system triggers visibility across the entire dashboard to ensure earlier intervention:

  • Map Tag Icons: Both primary and secondary tags will display a Red Exclamation Mark (!) at the top right of the tag icon.

  • Tag Sidebar: A specific "Pace Disruptor" label appears in the tag detail sidebar under the pace classification.

  • System Notifications: An automated notification is generated, specifying exactly how many minutes out of position the group is.

  • Track Map: An exclamation mark marker is dropped on the track map at the exact point where the breach occurred.

  • Player Profiles: Historical disruption data is linked to player profiles for long-term behavior tracking.

3. The Recovery Process

A group does not need to fix both factors to clear the status. They are removed from the "Pace Disruptor" list as soon as they recover in either direction:

  • They get back into position relative to the group ahead.

  • OR they get back on pace relative to the goal time.

Once recovered, visual indicators are removed, and the "Minutes to Recovery" is logged for post-round analysis.

4. Operational Configuration

Located under Management > Pace Disruptors, administrators can tailor the module to their specific course needs:

  • Custom Thresholds: Professional tours (like the DP World Tour) may set thresholds to 2 minutes for high stringency, while resort courses may prefer 20–30 minutes to target only "serious" pace distruptions.

  • Active Time Selector: While you cannot change thresholds by hour, you can enable/disable the module for specific windows (e.g., active only during peak morning hours to ensure a fast start to the day).

  • Ignore Last 3 Holes Toggle Setting: This setting prevents staff from being alerted to groups on the 16th, 17th, or 18th holes, where interventions often have minimal impact on the total round time.

  • Automated Messaging Toggle: Choose whether players with 2Way devices receive automated pace warnings or if the information should remain internal for staff use only.

5. 2Way Device Behavior

If automated messaging is enabled, golfers receive a clear, factual alert on their cart screen:

"You are now 10 minutes out of position and 12 minutes behind pace. Please pick up your pace and catch up to the group ahead."

Proof of Receipt: The player must click a "Close" button to dismiss the alert. The system logs exactly when this button was clicked, providing staff with "proof of receipt" if the player later claims they were never warned.

6. Post-Round Analysis and KPIs

The Pace Disruptors module provides data that is essential for staff management and course optimization:

  • History Page: Review a full list of daily disruptions, including where they happened and which players were involved.

  • Staff Accountability: The system logs the time between a breach and the first Marshal intervention. This allows managers to track Average Response Time as a staff KPI.

  • Interaction Logging: All interventions are recorded and feed directly into the Analytics Hub under "Successful Interactions."

  • Automated Reporting: Toggle on daily email summaries to receive a CSV report of all pace disruptions and recovery stats directly in your inbox.

Please Note:

Managing Report Recipients

Pace Disruptor information and its detailed .CSV data are bundled directly into the standard daily or weekly pace reports.

To ensure streamlined administration, it is recommended to create a standard user profile for anyone needing these reports (including stakeholders like board members who may not use the dashboard daily). Managing all recipients through individual user profiles allows admins to easily add or delete users in one central location, ensuring reporting consistency across the organization.

Frequently Asked Questions (Q&A)

Q: Why didn't a "Slow" group trigger a Pace Disruptor alert?

A: A group must be both slow against the goal pace and out of position relative to the group ahead. If they are slow but keeping up with the group in front, they are not considered a Disruptor because they aren't the primary cause of the field's delay.

Q: Can I use this to manage Player Assistant (Marshal) performance?

A: Yes. Because the system logs the timestamp of the breach and the timestamp of the staff intervention, you can use the History Page to measure how quickly your team is responding to alerts.

Q: Will players be offended by the term "Pace Disruptor"?

A: Players never see that term. The automated messages sent to carts only provide objective data regarding their minutes behind and position on the course.

Q: What happens if a group falls behind twice in one round?

A: The system treats each breach as a new incident. It will drop a new marker on the Track Map and create a second entry in the History Page for that tag.
