Troubleshooting the Marshal Tablet: Network Connectivity and Data Issues

This article explains what to do if you're experiencing issues with your Marshal Tablet not connecting to the internet or appearing unresponsive.  The symptom might be that the tablet powers on but fails to load web pages, sync data, or communicate with the Tagmarshal platform.

Network Settings and APN Configuration

A possible reason the Marshal Tablet appears offline could be due to incorrect or missing network configuration, specifically the Access Point Name (APN) settings. The APN acts as a gateway between your device and the mobile network, and if it’s not set correctly, the tablet cannot access the internet—even if data is available on the SIM.

If your tablet isn’t connecting to the internet, the first step is to verify that the APN is properly configured. The correct APN settings for Tagmarshal devices are:

  • Name: Tagmarshal
  • APN: data641003

To check and update thee network and APN configuration settings:

  1. Unlock your tablet and open the Settings app.
  2. Tap on Connections.
  3. Select Mobile Networks and ensure Data Roaming is turned ON. This allows the tablet to connect to external networks when needed.
  4. Tap Access Point Names (APN).
  5. Look for an entry named Tagmarshal with the APN data641003.
  6. If it’s missing or incorrect, tap Add in the top-right corner.
  7. Enter the exact values:
    • Name: Tagmarshal
    • APN: data641003
  8. Tap the three dots in the top-right corner, then select Save.
  9. Once saved, select the new APN entry to activate it.
  10. Finally, restart the tablet to apply the changes.

After restarting, open a web browser and attempt to load a simple page like google.com. If the page loads, your network connection is now active.

What to Do If the Problem Persists

If you’ve followed all the steps above verified the APN, enabled data roaming, restarted the device, and the tablet still won’t connect, there may be a deeper issue with the SIM or the SIM card has hit it's data cap for the the month.

In such cases, it’s recommended to:

  • Check the SIM card: Ensure it’s properly inserted and not damaged. Try removing and reinserting it.
  • Test with another device: If possible, insert the same SIM into another compatible tablet or phone to confirm it’s active and receiving signal.
  • Contact Support: Support will check the data capacity in the backend and increase it if necessary this is generally the most common issue for tablets failing to connect.

By following these steps, most connectivity issues can be resolved quickly and without the need for hardware replacement.

The Marshal Tablet is designed for reliable, long-term operation, and with proper configuration, it will maintain a stable connection for all your field operations.

If you continue to face challenges, remember that Tagmarshal Support is always available to assist. A few simple steps can make a big difference—don’t hesitate to reach out with your device details and a clear description of the issue.
