To The Pin Module / 2 Way Pin Locations

Pin Locations Module

1. Introduction

This module is designed for superintendents to:

  • Set and update daily pin positions.

  • Build and manage pin templates for recurring setups.

  • Schedule templates in advance for tournaments, weekly rotations, or special events.

The system is mobile-first, so you can use it on a phone or tablet out on the course, as well as on desktop if needed.

2. Navigating the Module

  • Access from Superintendent > Pin Locations in the menu.

  • The header shows the course name and gives three tabs:

    1. Current Pins – adjust today’s hole locations.

    2. Schedule – assign templates to specific dates.

    3. Templates – create or manage pin location templates.

3. Setting Current Pins

Hole Navigation

  • Use the dropdown, arrows, or number buttons to switch holes.

  • Holes adjusted within the last 12 hours show in green text.

Map & Pin Placement

  • Each hole’s green map has a yard grid overlay.

  • Adjust pin locations in three ways:

    1. From Bottom Notation – enter distance “ON” (yards from front) and “L/R” (yards left/right).

    2. From Center Notation – enter distance from center point.

    3. Direct Map Selection – tap on the green grid to drop a pin.

Editing & Saving

  • Use Cancel to discard changes.

  • Use Save Pins to confirm – the system updates pin data in real time.

  • If you navigate away without saving, you’ll be prompted to confirm.

4. Creating Pin Templates

Templates allow you to store repeatable pin setups (e.g., Tournament Pins, Weekend Rotation).

Steps

  1. Go to Templates Tab.

  2. Tap + Add Template.

  3. Enter a Template Name and assign a color code (nine presets available).

    • Colors help visually distinguish templates in your schedule.

  4. Adjust pin locations for each hole (same process as “Current Pins”).

  5. Save the template.

Managing Templates

  • Edit – update pin locations for an existing template.

  • Duplicate – copy a template and adjust for variations.

  • Delete – permanently remove (warning: schedules linked to it will also be deleted).

5. Scheduling Pin Templates

List View

  • The Schedule Tab shows a sortable table with:

    • Start Date (YYYY-MM-DD)

    • Template Name & Color

    • Actions (Edit or Delete)

Calendar View

  • Scroll through a monthly calendar with templates applied to date ranges.

  • Tap any scheduled range to view or edit.

Adding a Schedule

  1. Tap + Add Schedule.

  2. Select a Template.

  3. Select a Start Date and End Date on the calendar.

    • Dates turn grey once saved.

  4. Confirm – template is now active on selected dates.

    • Validation ensures no overlapping schedules are allowed.

6. Best Practices for Superintendents

  • Daily Routine:

    • Review Current Pins each morning.

    • Confirm updates are saved before leaving a hole.

  • Tournament Prep:

    • Build a dedicated template (e.g., “BMW Champs”).

    • Assign color coding for easy visibility.

    • Schedule it well in advance using the calendar.

  • Weekly Maintenance:

    • Rotate pins using recurring templates (e.g., Front/Middle/Back).

    • Use duplication to create slight variations.

  • Error Prevention:

    • Always confirm changes with the Save Pins button.

    • Double-check schedules for overlaps before finalizing.

    • The pin locations do not automatically reset daily. If you aren't using a schedule, the pins will remain as they are until they’re manually changed. Alternatively, you can set up a templated schedule so they update automatically according to that schedule.

7. Quick Reference: Action Buttons

  • Save Pins – confirms current hole setup.

  • Cancel – exits edit mode without saving.

  • + Add Template – create new template.

  • + Add Schedule – assign template to a date range.

  • List / Calendar Toggle – switch schedule views.

8. Recap

Superintendents can:

  • Set daily pins on the course map or via superintendent notations.

  • Create reusable templates for consistency and efficiency.

  • Schedule templates to automate tournament setups and weekly rotations.
